Welcome to the MAS Quran Institute

MAS Quran Institute founded as a Non-Profit Educational Organization in 2005 to serve the Book of Allah (The Holy Quran). It is the only specialized Quran Institute in Michigan and Mid West. We have Tajweed and memorization classes for brothers and sisters from different walks of life. Currently, we have 12 classes in four different locations in Michigan and more than 400 students.   Also, we have classes by phone for those outside of the state of Michigan. We are giving Ijaazah (certification) in Memorization and Recitation of the Quran in different Qiraa`t.

We have 6 certified teachers between part time and full time. We are extending helping hands for students with hardships by offering scholarships. Currently, we have 20 students with full scholarships.  Alhamdulillah, we were also successful in opening six other branches of the Quran Institute in other States. MAS Quran Institute plans to open a complete boarding school for Quran by the end of year 2008 inshallah.

Tirmidhi, in his Nawadir Al-Usul, said: The Glorious Qur’an is sacred so that one can not even touch it without being pure and safe from filth. The same is applicable upon starting to recite it. Moreover, one should use the siwak (tooth-stick) to clean and purify his mouth, as it is the way the Qur’an takes. Yazeed Ibn Abu Malik said: Your mouths are a way taken by the Glorious Qur’an, so, clean and purify them as much as you can.

Common Tajweed Mistakes

The two most common tajweed mistakes made by non-Arabs are the timings of the vowels, and medd letters, and in the articulation points of the letters.  The first type of mistake has been addressed in the first of what will be, insha’ Allah many tidbits; please see the tidbit lesson link.  The second type of mistake, that in the letters themselves, is a major problem that needs to be addressed by all non-Arabs, whether they are Westerners, Europeans, Africans, from the Indo Pakistani subcontinent, or from Eastern Asia.  At the outset, the letters that occur in Arabic that are not common in other languages would be what one would imagine to be a problem, but in fact, there are letters in Arabic that are similar to other languages, but do not share the same articulation points with their counterparts.

Applied definition: Articulating every letter from its articulation point and giving the letter its rights and dues of characteristics.
